How do I know if I need a new roof?
The following are things that may indicate that your roof needs replacing:
• Missing, cracked or curling shingles
• Blistering or peeling paint
• Shingle, sheathing or siding decay
• Leakage in the attic after heavy rains
• Stains on interior walls or ceilings

Do I need to be home during time of my estimate?

How much does a new roof cost?
Before we can tell you how much your job will cost, we will need to know what it involves. We understand your concerns about budget and keeping costs under control. We have the same concerns ourselves. Therefore, the best way to estimate a cost is to have a Cambridge Exteriors sales representative come to your home and take a look at your roof.
How long should I expect my roof to last?
All roofs eventually wear out. How quickly that happens depends on several factors, including pitch of the roof, quality of materials and installation, level of attic/roof ventilation, and the weather during our changing seasons .
What causes a roof to wear out?
Several factors combine to affect roof deterioration. These may include ultraviolet radiation from the sun; temperature extremes in your area; inadequate ventilation; exposure to wind, snow, ice and rain; and poor installation techniques, such as the use of stapes or too few nails in the shingles.
Can an existing roof be covered with another?
Yes you are allowed by code to install a second layer of shingles over your existing in most situations . Cambridge exteriors will evaluate your existing roof and give you our professional recommendation.
Will my homeowners insurance pay for a new roof if I have wind or hail damage?
Yes. Wind and Hail damage can be subjective and therefore different opinions can arise as to the extent of the damage. It is best to have someone representing your best interest when your insurance adjuster inspects. Cambridge Exteriors LLC will gladly help you with your insurance company.
What about Attic ventilation?
The perfect times to fix, upgrade, or maintain the correct balance of air flow/ventilation in your attic is at time of roof replacement. Cambridge Exteriors LLC will inspect your attic and make any necessary recommendations. Attic ventilation is a major factor in how long your roof will last.
Do you install roofs in the winter?
Winter is the slowest season for roofing, but that doesn’t mean the job can’t be done. We can install roofs in cold weather, provided the area does not have a thick blanket of snow and ice or high winds. In some years we have installed as many roof in the winter as the summer and spring months
What do I need to do to prepare for the installation of my new roof?
Remove all loose items from walls and shelves. The constant hammering may cause enough vibration to shake these items down. Make sure to clear your driveway and items directly surrounding your home.

When Cambridge Exteriors LLC does your roof we eliminate the weeklong process by installing your roof in one to two days. If rain is in the forecast we often will hold off. We can afford to do that since your roof typically gets completed efficiently and quickly.

Why Are Warranties Important?
A new roof is a big investment, typically involving thousands of your hard-earned dollars and lasting 25, 30, 40 years, or more. As with any big investment, knowing in advance what your warranty covers could save you thousands in the event that problems arise with your roof.
What Should I Look For In A Roofing Warranty?
Basically, there are two types of coverage that you should ask your contractor about: coverage against manufacturing defects in the materials and coverage against workmanship errors.
What Is GAF’s “Smart Choice® Protection Period”?
GAF’s warranties come with a special provision called the Smart Choice® Protection Period that provides extra coverage against manufacturing defects during the critical early years of your new roof. During this period, in the event that you experience a manufacturing defect on covered components, GAF will provide you with 100% replacement materials and the reasonable cost of labor to install them. This is important because some roofing warranties may only provide replacement materials, but not the labor to install them.
What Is The GAF Weather Stopper® System Plus Ltd. Warranty?
The GAF Weather Stopper® System Plus Ltd. Warranty provides coverage against manufacturing defects for all major GAF components on your roof (not just your shingles) — so you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that, if any covered roofing component fails, it will be covered by the warranty (see ltd. warranty for complete coverage and restrictions). The warranty is available through GAF’s factory-certified contractors, and is a low-cost way to get up to 50 years of non-prorated coverage (against manufacturing defects) on your new roofing system. For the small additional cost of the System Plus ltd. warranty, this is probably the best value you can get for your investment.
Are There Any Manufacturers Who Will Cover The Contractor’s Workmanship?
Yes Cambridge Exteriors offers this warranty! GAF’s Golden Pledge® Ltd. Warranty was the first manufacturer’s warranty to cover both manufacturing defects and the contractor’s workmanship (see Golden Pledge® Ltd. Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions). Whether or not your contractor remains in business, GAF will stand behind his workmanship for 25 years! The Golden Pledge® Ltd. Warranty is available only through GAF Master Eli
